A British writer and entrepreneur, Aaron Mullins is an internationally published academic and award winning psychologist, writing on many fascinating subjects. He is also the designer behind the Mullins Made clothing and accessories brand.
With a first class honours degree in psychology, a PhD in business and psychology, and a passion for supporting people to start their own business, Aaron has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs follow their dreams. The ones about their business that is, rather than that dream you keep having where your cat can talk. Eat less cheese before bed.
Aaron’s achievements in the field of psychology have been recognised with a number of awards, including the British Psychological Society Prize for Outstanding Academic Achievement and the T.D. Lewis Scholarship for Excellence presented by the University of Northampton. As a lecturer at Coventry University, Aaron created courses and taught his students many of the subjects in his books.
Before studying to become a psychologist, Aaron served 4 years in the Royal Air Force, carrying out duties in conditions ranging from minus 40 degrees in Norway and Sweden, working with other air forces in Belgium, and earning a medal for work in Northern Ireland.
Aaron previously worked for the National Centre for Entrepreneurship in Education and his project work included conducting research into enhancing entrepreneurship and business support in Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, India and Nigeria, as well as stimulating enterprise in the UK. It was the skills and experience he gained here that made him decide to become a fulltime entrepreneur and launch his own company.
“I was sitting at my desk working 9-5 at the National Centre for Entrepreneurship in Education, putting together some marketing for entrepreneurs about how great it would be to not have to sit at a desk and work 9-5… *lightbulb moment* …I saw the irony in my situation and decided to launch my own company doing what I love.”
Author and Publisher
Aaron was the owner of Birdtree Books, a digital publishing company which published ebooks in a range of genres. The company had a very successful handmade gift shop and also offered a range of personalised business startup support services. Featured in a number of newspapers throughout England and Scotland, partnered with World Reader Charity and sponsoring English classes in an under-tree school in India, Birdtree Books grew in strength and was eventually purchased by another company. Aaron writes about the knowledge he gained from this experience in his startup guides.
In addition to being a publisher, Aaron is also internationally published as an academic, having many book chapters and journal papers published in 11 different languages around the world. His fiction work has also been well received, with two compendiums of short stories compiled with fellow authors and edited by Aaron himself, both achieving over 10,000 downloads within their first 18 months of publication.
Mullins Made Clothing Brand
Following on from the creativity of his handmade gift shop, Aaron turned his design skills to the world of fashion. Aaron has always been interested in fashion trends and helping people feel great within themselves and their homes. He studied art and design, learning the intricacies of textile design, while creating handmade products for his gift shop. He loves inspiring others by creating trendy new looks that are exclusive to the Mullins Made brand.
Aaron creates something for everyone, from the womens Pretty Pastels collection featuring pastel dresses, tops and accessories, to the Rock Revival collection that features band t-shirts, crop tops and gritty images that call to your inner rock star. The Mullins Made store on Zazzle is the place where he shares his designs.
Firstly I want to thank all of you for your support, it means the world to me to hear that you have enjoyed reading my stories as much as I enjoyed writing them. From an early age I have always wanted to be an author and to help make a difference to people’s lives, and am fortunate now to be able to do both.
I enjoy being a part of supporting so many of your innovative businesses, there’s nothing better than knowing my books have played a part in shaping your enthusiasm and passion into a workable business plan.
I love exploring the realm of psychology, both in my academic work and through the minds and behaviours of my most memorable characters. I have a 4 year old daughter, Olivia, for whom I have to create these fantastical stories and characters on a nightly basis. There’s no feedback quite like the honesty of a child.
